Facial Dry Brushing

I love dry brushing! Dry brushing stimulates the lymphatic system that helps your body detoxify itself. I dry brush my body everyday, but I only recently learned about facial dry brushing.
THE BENEFITS OF FACIAL DRY BRUSHING
Facial dry brushing does three things:
- Increases blood circulation in your face- making you skin look healthy and vibrant
- Stimulates lymphatic flow which keeps you healthy- If you’re healthy on the inside, you will see it on the outside!
- Exfoliates your skin- If you use a weekly exfoliant mask, dry brushing works in the same way to remove dead skin cells and make your skin look fresher.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I Do FACIAL DRY BRUSHING
Because your face is sensitive, you should only dry brush one to three times a week, leaving at least one day between brushing. How often your brush will depend on your skin sensitivity and how course is your brush. There is a such thing as too much of a good thing! Exfoliating your skin everyday may actually damage your skin, so you want to give your skin some time to rest between brushing.
THE DRY BRUSH
Brushes may vary. I use a small boar bristle brush. I use a large boar bristle brush in body dry brushing, so I wanted one of the same material. However, I will admit that a boar bristle brush is bit rough, so you may want to find a softer bristle brush (such as nylon), especially if you have dry or sensitive skin. My brush came in a 3 pack off of Amazon for $13. I use one for my face, one for my body (to help brush small areas like ankles and around and behind the knees) and one for replacement.

A FEW FACIAL DRY BRUSHING NOTES
- You are going to do each brush 3-5 times.
- LIGHTLY brush your face to avoid irritation. may repeat if you feel comfortable.
- It is normal for your skin to be a little pink or red after dry brushing.
- After dry brushing, continue with your normal skin care regime putting on a little extra moisturizer or use an oleation oil (an oil specifically for use after dry brushing, I use Aveda’s Tulasara Radiant Oleation Oil)
- As with any detox, lymphatic aid, be sure to drink lots of water after this exercise to help your body rid itself of waste.
Keeping your lymphatic system uncontested is really important for health. Daily body dry brushing and weekly facial dry brushing will help keep your system clear and healthy! If you’re looking for something quick and simple to add to your daily skincare regime check out my Jade Roller Tutorial.
