Am I missing something?
Exercise.
Ugh.
Isn’t it the worst when you make so much effort; so many sacrifices, but see no or little results?
Am I missing something?
Make sure your exercise program includes:
- Cardio,
- Resistance/Weight training and
- Flexibility
Many times we get in an exercise routine that only covers one of these areas. As we age, our bodies need to be strengthened and stretched. Don’t skip these!
The best way to get all three is to do a combination of exercises. Be sure to warm up before you stretch and to include stretching after each cardio and weight training workout. It is better to stretch after a workout once your body is warm. Stretching while your body is cold can cause injury.
So what do I do now?
Your body is more than just muscles and fat. You have nerves, arteries and organs that need to function properly. While diet and exercise help all things to function correctly, your stress levels and sleep effect your body’s ability to detox.
Also, chemicals and toxins in your environment will tax your liver and will make you sick and keep you from losing weight. If you eat a lot of processed or fast food, consider doing a cleanse to help clear your liver and colon. Then, start eating real food and drinking lots of water.

You should try to exercise 3-5 days a week for at least 30 minutes. Find something fun and mix it up so you don’t get bored. I personally love doing Taekwondo. Grab your spouse or friend and workout together. Having a workout buddy will help with accountability and keep you motivated. After you get your diet and exercise routine on track, you should begin to explore the other three elements of physical health: Sleep, Stress and Environment. I’ve put the other links to our series below so you can access it easily.
