Toss Out Your Toxic Deodorant & 2 Ingredient Detox

Did you give up on a natural deodorant because you were stinky and sweaty? You are not alone.
We spend decades using chemical-filled antiperspirants. Therefore when we remove those chemicals, our body reacts.
A deodorant detox can help your body accept a natural deodorant and away from dangerous chemicals sabotaging your heath! Your underarms have lymph nods which filter out toxins from your body. But like your liver, regular exposure to toxins can accumulate and cause problems.
Aluminum and Parabens and propylene glycol OH MY!
Your run of the mill deodorants are chalked with toxins that can disrupt your body. The main culprits: Aluminum, parabins and propylene glycol. Heres the run down:
Parabens: Endocrine disruptors common in make-up and skin care products, linked to miscarriage, premature birth, birth defects, deficient sperm, obesity, metabolic disease, bone density and breast cancer.
Propylene glycol: Used in anti-freeze, can disturb your central nervous system.
The arguments for the safety of these products (and all other toxic chemicals) in our food and health products are the same: These chemicals are safe in small doses. That may be true. However, most of us DO NOT use these items in small doses, because these chemical are in our:
- face soap,
- hand soap,
- deodorant,
- make-up,
- food,
- laundry detergent,
- moisturizer,
- body lotions,
- shaving creams,
- hair styling products,
- dishwasher cleaner,
- household cleaners,
- car cleaners,
- floor & carpet cleaner
….basically everything we expose ourselves to!
Hmmm…not so small of a dose, right?! This is called Bioaccumulation.
A slow poison
Bioaccumulation is when we are exposed to chemicals over time and they reek havoc on our body. However, because the reaction is not immediate, we continue to use products not recognizing that they are a danger to our health. Think of it as a slow poison!
Basically, a non-natural deodorant can cause neurological and endocrine issues and possibly cancer. This is especially important when considering that your deodorant is applied so close to your breasts!
“But Natural Deodorants don’t work”
Chances are, when you tried a natural deodorant you saw just how much your toxic deodorant effects your body. Your body was meant to sweat and you didn’t realize just how much you sweated because chemicals were keeping your body dry. When you took those chemicals away, your body responded with a sweaty mess!Detox = Working Natural Deodorant = Healthy
Here’s how to get your body to work with a natural deodorant through a deodorant detox.
DEODORANT DETOX
What it is: Application of a paste made from ” data-wplink-url-error=”true”>apple cider vinegar (ACV) and water to underarms over a 5-7 day period.
What is does: Detoxes your armpits so you do not sweat as much as you use your natural deodorant.

How to Do a Deodorant Detox:
*NOTE: Bentonite clay reacts to metal, so avoid using any metal spoons, measuring spoons or bowls.
1. In a glass or plastic bowl, mix 1 TBS bentonite class with 11/2 teaspoons ACV.
2. Add a little water till enough to mix and make a thick paste.
3. Use a plastic spoon, spatula or popsicle stick to mix. DO NOT USE A METAL SPOON.
4. Apply to your underarms and leave on for 5-15 minutes. Some people have sensitivities to bentonite clay so start out with 5 minutes and slowly increase time each day.
5. Wash off with a warm water, or for an enhanced experience, use a round facial scrub pad and use up-strokes to exfoliate your underarms and increase circulation. Or you can use a regular wash cloth to remove.
I use this deodorant detox before I hop in the shower. To rid my body of environmental toxins, I do it for 3-5 days at the beginning of each month. My kids (ages 8-12) do this detox as well, just not as often- maybe once or twice a year.
Those First Few Days
Do this deodorant detox as you use your natural deodorant. As your body adjusts, you can still expect some sweaty days for the first few days. Plan ahead. Pack an extra shirt and your deodorant. Within a week, the sweating will become less and you will notice that your natural deodorant works!
After a few months, if you start to notice yourself getting smelly, simply do the detox again. The smell is your body telling you you are accumulating some toxins.
